La Casa del Jade

Casa del Jade Shopping

La Casa del Jade in Antigua Guatemala, with over 30 years of experience offering jewels and recreations of the highest quality

With our exclusive store in Antigua Guatemala, and with 30 years of experience, we have been offering both our international and national clients total and complete satisfaction when acquiring our jewels and mesoamerican mayan recreations.
With every day and every year, La Casa del Jade continues to transform it self to always stay in the vanguard of the Jade and jewelry industry.

For this reason, on June 15, 1998, La Casa del Jade moves to its new store located in ‘Casa Antigua El Jaulón’ (building designated a national monument).
The new store features beautiful jewelry and recreations of Pre-Hispanic cultures. Each piece is exquisitely handcrafted by our artisans.La Casa del Jade is proud to work with the highest standards of quality. Precious metals and stones serve as a frame to Jade, celestial stone of the Mayan, which today is still extracted from the same route used by our ancestors. We have the most diverse and exotic tonalities in Jade, such as white, over ten different shades of green, reaching to the valuable black, among our exclusivities, we have the Orange Jade, the Lila or Lavender, Imperial Jade or Mayan Emerald, which is extremely rare and therefore desirable, Princess Jade in dark and clear tones but with a nice transparency, Blue Jade and Olmecan Blue.To guarantee our quality and to give clients a total security of our work, we provide with each piece a certificate of authenticity, granted by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) as well as a three-year warranty certificate for each one of our valuable pieces.

As we already said before, every day we want to innovate and to implement new products and services, to always be able to offer something new, for this reason since 2004, we are showing an exclusive collection of Pre-Hispanic pieces in our Meso-American Museum of Jade.

Antigua Tabaco Compañia
A cozy place for you to have a nice chat smoking a cigar ...

The inhabitants of Europe were unaware of tobacco until after Columbus epic voyage of 1492. Never the less, the Mayans depicted themselves on pottery (dated between 600 to 1000 A.C. excavated recently from Mayan Ruins in IXMUCHEL Guatemala), smoking a roll of long tobacco leaves tied with strings.
Further more, there are suspicions that the word “CIGAR” is derived from the Mayan language where “TO SMOKE”, is “SIK'AR”.

Just like the grapes in the wine, the tobacco plan will undergo a process of transformation called curing before it becomes a smoking item. But contrary to wine, cigars will be constructed from a blend of different crops of tobacco leaves in order to maintain the flavor of the brand.

Be aware that once again like with wine, Cigars offer a wide variety of flavor, body and strength. Therefore, when you choose a cigar make sure you do not limit yourself only to what marketing wants you to know!

Cigars are usually made of 3 components: the filler, the binder and the wrapper. There are many different tastes of filler tobacco but only two very specific types: long leafs or cuttings. There are many types of wrappers and binders. Cigars made of cutting are not consider real cigars but can definitely be a pleasant smoke!
The binder holds the filler together and secures the cigar's tightness.
The wrapper contributes to appearance (color and feel) and taste.
All components obviously will contribute to the smoking experience but the workmanship put in the cigar will definitely refine the experience.
The appearance and the draw are attribute that will enhance your smoking experience.

The size of the cigar is made of its ring size and its length. The ring sizes range from 30 to 64 (64 = 1 inch). The length varies from 4 to 8 inches. Your draw and the time you have to smoke will define the size you should select. If you tend to have a strong draw, pick a larger ring size.
There are mild, mild to medium, medium, medium to strong and strong cigars. The tastes, on the other hand are numerous: peppery, spicy, earthy, sweet, leathery, silky, etc.
At Antigua Tobacco Companies, we will help you select the cigar that will provide you an enjoyable experience. You can smoke with us, in our lounge, or you can get your cigars to go. We offer a variety of branded and none branded products from the land of the Mayans and Cuba. Our friendly staff can talk to you about cigars and more, come to enjoy our company!

Art Gallery and Shop! .

Shopping in Antigua is wonderful - there are many local handicrafts available and the goods are well made and cheap. There are several markets in the city where women gather during the day to lay out their wares.

Hand or machine spun cloth, embroidered purses, pottery, and just about anything else you can imagine.

Bargaining is essential if you want to get a good price. Aim to pay about 30-50% lower than what the asking price is, and you can figure you're getting a decent deal.

Most of the local goods sold are Mayan weavings. The colors will liven up any room and the weavings are very intricate.Furthermore they are very inexpensive.

You can shop for jade, artwork and other things Guatemalan but the locals make fine textile goods.Depends, anywhere from ten dollars and higher.

The Mayan weavers of Guatemala are world famous for their distinctive wares. It was fascinating to see women using a lap loom, one end tied to a tree and the other, around their waist. The articles woven are sold very reasonably. You are expected to bargain, but please, not too hard.

MNG sweaters, ponchos, beautiful and original tops, skirts, pants for very reasonable prices. The owner is very inclined to give "discounts" as well so a certain degree of bargaining is fine here.A knit sweater or pashmina made with llama fur.Q100-200. There are bins with items as low as Q50.
